The following items are also required:

Duplicate Titles

The registered owner or lien holder on record for a vehicle may apply for a duplicate title. An application must be completed in detail and can be submitted at the tax collector’s office.

If there is an outstanding lien, only the lien holder can apply for a duplicate title. If the lien has been satisfied, a lien satisfaction form will need to be presented. A paper release may be acceptable.

If your title was from another state, you must apply for the duplicate title through the motor vehicle division of that state.

Title application on a new vehicle

If you have purchased a vehicle  (new or used) from a Florida dealership, the dealer is required by law to process your application for title.

If you have purchased a new vehicle from an out-of-state dealership, you may process your application for title at the tax collector's office.

In addition to a completed Application for Certificate of Title, the following items are needed:

  • The original manufacturers certificate of origin
